Kremlin critic Alexey Nalvany imprisoned for another nine years as he calls out 'mad maniac' Putin over Ukraine invasion

One of President Vladimir Putin's biggest critics has been handed another nine years in prison.

Imprisoned Kremlin critic Alexey Navalny has been sentenced to an additional nine years in a maximum-security jail.

A Russian court found the 45-year-old guilty of fraud and contempt of court, with his lawyers also detained by police after the hearing on Tuesday.

Mr Navalny is a popular opposition figure in Russia and has often exposed the corruption of President Vladimir Putin by releasing reports and documentaries.

He was already serving a two-and-a-half year sentence at a detention centre outside of Moscow for a parole violation, which he claims was politically motivated.
