Comedian and voice actor with an iconic voice that everyone recognizes.

He now joins Norm MacDonald and Bob Saget.

On the other hand, this means I'm now in the running to be the best Gilbert Gottfried voice around.

Gilbert Gottfried, standup comic and actor, dies at 67.

Gottfried died from a rare genetic muscle disease that can trigger a dangerously abnormal heartbeat.

Gottfried was a fiercely independent and intentionally bizarre comedian's comedian, as likely to clear a room with anti-comedy as he was to kill it with his jokes.

He first came to national attention with frequent appearances on MTV in its early days and with a brief stint in the cast of "Saturday Night Live" in the 1980s.

Gottfried also did frequent voice work for children's television and movies, most famously playing the parrot Iago in Disney's "Aladdin".  He was particularly fond of doing obscure and dated impressions for as long as he could milk them, including Groucho Marx, Bela Lugosi and Andrew "Dice" Clay.  In his early days at the club the Comedy Store in Hollywood, the managers would have him do his impression of then-little-known Jerry Seinfeld at the end of the night to get rid of lingering patrons.

Gottfried was especially beloved by his fellow comedians and performers.

I remember his unique voice. He voiced Digit from Cyberchase.

From Wikipedia: "Gilbert Jeremy Gottfried (February 28, 1955 – April 12, 2022) was an American actor and stand-up comedian.  His persona as a comedian featured an exaggerated shrill voice and emphasis on crude humor. His numerous roles in film and television include voicing the parrot Iago in Disney's Aladdin animated films and TV show, Digit LeBoid in the PBS Kids show "Cyberchase", and Kraang Subprime in "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles".  Gottfried was the voice of the Aflac Duck until 2011.  He appeared in the critically-panned but commercially-successful Problem Child in 1990.  From 2014 until his death in 2022, Gottfried hosted a podcast, "Gilbert Gottfried's Amazing Colossal Podcast", which featured discussions of classic movies and celebrity interviews, most often with veteran actors, comedians, musicians, and comedy writers.  "Gilbert", a documentary film on Gottfried's life and career, was released in 2017."

Another great talent has gone away.

I recently heard his voice work as Mr. Mxyzptlk in Superman TAS. I also saw him on AVGN where he played Fred Fuchs (jokingly pronounced F***s), a notorious game developer whos name shows up in the credits of some of the bad games The Nerd reviews.

I remember him when he was the host of USA Networks Up All Night in the late '80s.

And of course, the geniuses are saying it was the covid vaccine. Every time someone famous dies they say it's the covid vaccine, which it was not. It wasn't even from covid, although I was sure it was at first.

I remember him mostly as Iago the parrot from Disney's Aladdin. I was reading about Iago yesterday and I learned some interesting things, such as Iago being named after a Shakespeare character and the similarities. Also Disney originally was going to have Iago be an "evil Brit" type character with a slow, deep voice and a calm personality while Jafar was going to be the wise-cracking, bad-tempered one, but they switched the roles to make Jafar more intimidating. I think they did the right thing.

This conspiracy theory originated with the so-called "Geniuses" on Twitter, and was thoroughly debunked by Politifact  HERE .

Gottfried is survived by his wife, Dara, his daughter Lily, his son Max, his sister Karen and his nephew Graham, according to a statement from Gottfried’s longtime friend and publicist, Glenn Schwartz.

In the statement, Schwartz said that Gottfried had died from "recurrent ventricular tachycardia," a heart rhythm problem.

Schwartz said this was "due to myotonic dystrophy type II," an inherited muscular dystrophy that affects the muscles and other body systems, such as the heart.

Gottfried’s family posted a statement about his death on Gottfried’s verified Twitter account. It doesn’t mention the COVID-19 vaccine.

What all this means is that Mr. Gottfried was born with a form of muscular dystrophy, which is what ended his life.  Neither covid19 nor any covid vaccines were involved in his death.
