In 1992, an attempt to overturn Roe failed at a late stage because Justice Kennedy withdrew his support at a late stage. There is still room for this to change.

Failing that:

- vote, and encourage others to. Ask your local Democratic Party how you can support their campaigning and get-out-the-vote organisation
- seriously, this is probably the only way that the Democrats stand a chance of gaining seats in the midterms.
- with a stronger majority, the Democrats need to start playing as dirtily as the Republicans. Unlikely they’d be able to impeach the partisan judges, but they can certainly pack the court with competent judges. They wouldn’t even need to appoint extremists like the Republicans do, just appoint competent judges on merit who will defend the constitution.
- meanwhile, statehood for DC and Puerto Rico should be a priority to redress the imbalance between urban and rural states
- pass ambitious federal laws on voting rights which put an end to gerrymandering, among other things
- if possible, pass a federal law linking highway funding to abortion access. If you try to restrict abortion, you have to pay for the upkeep of federal roads in your state.

It may take an insurrection by the left to save Roe v Wade.

This is what happens when you let men have opinions on abortion. We know they form most of the opposition to it.

This is another instance of old, conservative men deciding what women can and cannot do with their bodies.  Sure, there are women on the Supreme Court; but I have to wonder if any were intimidated into going along with the men's decision.

Barrett was probably the only one. Sotomayor and Kagan are both pro-abortion, and Brown-Jackson hasn't been sworn in yet.

I know of quite a lot of conservative females who are against abortion too. So the question is, is the conservative agenda worse or better than the liberal agenda?

The court's public affairs office confirmed the document published by Politico is "authentic," but stressed that "it does not represent a decision by the Court or the final position of any member on the issues in the case."

The draft opinion's leak sent shockwaves through Washington, with the news of the potential overturning of Roe drawing outrage from Democrats that rivaled the anger expressed by Republicans over the breach of the high court's secrecy norms.

President Joe Biden said Tuesday that a woman's right to have an abortion is "fundamental" following Politico's report, and urged Congress to pass legislation codifying Roe, which was decided in 1973 and established a constitutional right to abortion before fetal viability.

"Roe has been the law of the land for almost fifty years, and basic fairness and the stability of our law demand that it not be overturned," he said in a statement.

Congressional Democrats issued similar statements Tuesday related to the draft opinion, but their counterparts zeroed in on the purported leak, blasting the move as an effort to change the court's final decision in the matter.

"Somebody, likely somebody inside the court itself, leaked a confidential internal draft to the press, almost certainly in an effort to stir up an inappropriate pressure campaign to sway an outcome," Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said in remarks on the Senate floor. The Kentucky Republican also called for a probe into the leak.

Following the publication of the draft late Monday, protesters descended on areas outside the Supreme Court and have remained there through Tuesday afternoon. Many have held signs in support of abortion rights, and the crowd has occasionally chanted in opposition to the draft ruling, including by saying: "Hey, hey, ho, ho, Samuel Alito's gotta go," and "Abortion rights are under attack, what do we do, stand up fight back."

Seriously....it's not dead in the water yet. There have been judges, even conservative ones, who have ultimately voted on a jurisprudential basis, rather than a political basis.
