In Australia we would call this using vulnerable desperate people as "political footballs".

I would still pose the question would you be happy of somebody in your family was humiliated and treated this way?

Have you considered that Texas is so inundated by the flow of immigrants that it can't accommodate them comfortably and that sending them to K. Kamala might be doing them a favour?

Plz keep your hyperpartisanship to a dull roar.

Texas is being OVERRUN, how can you not get this? I'm super glad you live in a world where everyone skips to mylou, there's plenty of space, food, housing for millions of people showing up in a relatively short span of time. We don't, the only way our crooked administration might help is they're forced to personally deal with what they've created.

Didn't DeSantis do the same thing?

I'm not even being political.

Governor Abbott prides himself on being god-fearing christian.

Have you considered taking people without their consent, humiliating them when they ask you for help and make them suffer the cold and hunger on christmas day (of all the days of the year he picked  ) becoming of somebody claiming to be god-fearing christian of the bible??

Proverbs 31:8-9 (NIV) “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.”

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

You think that's funny? How would you like it if it was your mother or sister being thrown in freezing condition without any warm clothes.

The "funny" part is the consequences on Kackling Kamarla due to her party's poor immigration policies. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Tell me if anyone gets seriously ill as a result of this political stunt.

BTW, ease back on the eggnog.

Harris doesn't personally have the power to do anything about the immigration situation. It's a stunt based on one half cruelty, and one half dehumanization.

yes .. especially with this Country holding Christmas day in such a high regard as to have it as a National holiday
The behaviour of Abb-Snotts behaviour is quite reprehensible 8O .. And as so .. there should be some kind of
penalization or Punishment that should be Awarded to him for his Actions .And a sizeable Public acknowledgement of him doing this on Christmas day.
Upon thinking this through more thoroughly it ocurrs to me that this demostrates quite publically 8O , What I have learned is Psychopathic deviant behaviour  , Or at the very least Sociopathic behaviour  . Would think it would be practical to call for his removal from Office at the very least :ninja: .IMHO

Agree. ^

If someone had dumped a bunch of dogs or cats in the cold, there'd be more of a public outcry.

Shameful.

I'm with cyberdad.

abbott's cruelty ought to be criminal. Dunno if it is, tho.

USA can't handle current migrants? Just wait until they really start coming.. for real. Climate scientists predict 1.1-1.3 BILLION climate change refugees in the largest mass migration of humans ever over the coming decades as things heat up and dry out in the Southern hemisphere. Apparently that's a big reason for the current flow of people already - not just political instability, corruption, violence etc, but a lack of water to drink and grow the simplest of crops for subsistence farming households to survive. No water, no life, must pack up and move for a chance at survival. Can't say I blame any of these people. I'm just very blessed that by the good fortune of the birth lottery I popped out where I did in the world and we're about the best equipped on the planet to survive long term.

USA definitely needs immigration reform.. not closed doors, but better management systems and processes to integrate newcomers into their economy. Many developed nations need to do the same. Canada, too. We have a lot of land mass and very low population. People are going to continue to relocate pure and simple so we all need better ways to deal with the inevitable.

A rare case when my perspective perfectly aligns with cyberdad's.

It also reminds me of how Belarus is using desperate migrants to destabilize Poland and Lithuania. The same kind of exploitation of human tragedies.

I posted recently about an incident where I gave money to a refugee who was unfazed by $20. She grabbed hold of my hand and started praying for $100, in Jesus name. Now, I'm a believer in prayer and Jesus. I think $100 is not a large amount of money, especially if a group of people get together to give it. It was more than I could afford to give, all by myself, that day. I told her so, she began praying for $40. I just withdrew at that point and she accepted the $20.
This is in Florida. And it's only going to get worse. It may take a while, but eventually everyone is going to be touched in some way by the desperation of unchecked immigration, lack of jobs, lack of housing, etc... It can come fast (shipping them to government officials, where they might be considered a nuisance but it's likely they will not be shot) or where Buffalo, N.Y. is giving the go ahead to shoot looters.
Even now, Florida is trying to pass a law where anyone can conceal carry.
This was always going to end in tragedy, it's just a matter of when.
I'm always shocked at the logic of the people who think that any society is capable or willing to shoulder the burden of a large amount of invaders. The First Nations people didn't win, but they fought back.

What lack of jobs? :?

Definitely not in the USA or Canada, where both countries rely on immigration/refugees/migrant workers to fill a variety of construction, agricultural, cleaning, and service sector jobs.. but also manufacturing, skilled trades, healthcare etc.. as well as visas for engineers/tech talent and so on.

USA has 11 Million job openings and only 6 Million unemployed workers, leaving a gap of at least 5 Million workers that need to come from outside the USA. Older generation is retiring, some people found new roles or started small businesses during covid, more than a Million Americans died from covid, and Millions of others are either unable to work or have diminished capabilities due to the effects of long covid. I'm sure there are other factors at play as well, but the bottom line is that there is no lack of jobs in the USA; to the contrary there is a labour shortage and it's going to be foreigners that fill the void and pick up the slack.

Same thing on a smaller scale in Canada. Pretty much every hands on job is hiring and cannot get enough bodies to put to work - especially in skilled construction trades. It's a GREAT time to be graduating high school and making a decision to get a Trade instead of a big pile of student loan debt.

I guess I should clarify "lack of jobs off the books." Even with the border wide open, there will still be 'stops' along the way. A big draw in Florida, especially in Ocala, Fl. where I grew up, are the horse farms. Hispanic workers can work (be exploited) by working for less cash and remaining hidden from the IRS. The jobs are there, but not enough to accommodate these numbers.

Many, many, many people can come. But the regular businesses will not hire them unless they have a social security number... And the off the books jobs will reach a limit.
