Copycat morons are worse than the original morons, IMO.

I mean, not like the orange guy has a monopoly on insurrections or he was the first to ever attempt one in the world.. but it was the most seen on TV EVER so I figure these morons can be called 2nd rate copycat morons for sure.

Brasil is like the US. It has heavily segregated neighborhoods and states. There are states where PoC don't travel due to risk of lynching. Any wonder there's a support base for Bolsanaro.

Brazil was a monarchy before that. Their democracy as we know it now only dates back to 1985, and that election was an unusual one. The winner of the election was Tancredo Neves, but he died before he could take office. His running mate, Jose Sarney, became president.

My understanding is that it continued "illegally" till early 20th century.

Even a cursory glance at the history of the CIA and which regimes it has supported will tell you that the CIA does not interfere to prop up socialist-leaning regimes at the expensive of conservative capitalists. Who do you think it was that helped the Brazilian military overthrow president João Goulart in the 60s? The last Brazilian president before Lula to dare to be a leftist?
The CIA interferes in other countries' democracies primarily to protect US business interests. A leftist Brazilian president who campaigns on reversing the laissez faire policies of his predecessor is not exactly US capital's preferred president.
