Copycat morons are worse than the original morons, IMO.

I mean, not like the orange guy has a monopoly on insurrections or he was the first to ever attempt one in the world.. but it was the most seen on TV EVER so I figure these morons can be called 2nd rate copycat morons for sure.

I hope the Brazilian right doesn't have the tread to slow justice as it rolls out.

Brasil is like the US. It has heavily segregated neighborhoods and states. There are states where PoC don't travel due to risk of lynching. Any wonder there's a support base for Bolsanaro.

An unfortunate legacy of slavery in both countries, me thinks.

1889.

Brazil was a monarchy before that. Their democracy as we know it now only dates back to 1985, and that election was an unusual one. The winner of the election was Tancredo Neves, but he died before he could take office. His running mate, Jose Sarney, became president.

My understanding is that it continued "illegally" till early 20th century.

it would not surprise me if the CIA was behind the demostration . You know , that phrase democratically anything
now days is almost unspoken wording for USA puppet , i fear .
Little off topic:
Having serious concerns for Ukrainian President "Hunter Biden" opps i mean the general future of Ukraine as a
Independant ( puppet of USA) Country/ State ...err.. uhm.. sorry spoke before thought . But am guessing its better than other alternatives . If we quit financing after the War, save the money for our poor . Let them stand on their own two feet, and feel proud of bringing their country back from the brink. And kick the Yanks outta their country including our little dictator Hunter . The place will be a giant money grab for rebuilding using our ( USA) Giant industrial complex. Every US company on the planet will be trying to get money grants from our own gov. here to rebuild overthere. But who , am i to note these kind of giant economic dibocles . Who knows maybe the Russians will get a economic boon from helping to rebuild Ukraine too. As so many durn Russkie troops surrenderedAnd they will need work ?

But in vlosing , fo not mess with Brazil.. period ! as of 1990 CIA world fact book put them on top of the Worlds biggest most heavily equipped Military in the World. 1/3 larger than the next closest Country . Have been told they are signed onto NATO , thank Heaven... 8O :)

^ Ad hoc conspiracy theories like Jakki’s used to amuse me, back when it seemed each one was both new and unique.

Now the are all pretty much the same, and no one has come up with anything truly original.

At least none include my name or the names of organizations with which I work.

In more ways than one. Many Confederados, laveholding Americans, were welcomed into Brazil during/after the Civil Wat as a "haven" where they could continue owning slaves. American slaveowners and slave apologists have poisoned the politics of more countries than just the US.

Didn't several nazis seek refuge in Brazil too after WW2?

Oh the irony...

To what end did the CIA supposedly do this..? You seen to be on the right, so I am guessing you think this was ?? to damage the credibility of Bolsonaro and his supporters? Why would the CIA do that? Even a cursory glance at the history of the CIA and which regimes it has supported will tell you that the CIA does not interfere to prop up socialist-leaning regimes at the expensive of conservative capitalists. Who do you think it was that helped the Brazilian military overthrow president João Goulart in the 60s? The last Brazilian president before Lula to dare to be a leftist?
The CIA interferes in other countries' democracies primarily to protect US business interests. A leftist Brazilian president who campaigns on reversing the laissez faire policies of his predecessor is not exactly US capital's preferred president.
