One minute in and I can tell he doesn't know what it actually means to be "woke." Not that everyone who considers themselves "woke" actually knows, either, which might be why it is so easy to misunderstand what the goal is, but I really don't need someone else speaking against a concept they don't understand and, thus, ending up with that speech furthering the misunderstanding.

Where the confusion is is due to woke meaning totally different things in different countries and how it has been used.
An example of what we class as woke happened recently when two individuals were arrested for "Thought crimes".

What the ???

How does a concept evolve from "awake to the injustices and prejudices built into a system and/or perpetuated by individuals" to "thought crimes"?

Because the different concepts of what the term means to different people living in different countries.

Evolve is not the right word, weaponized for political gain is.

Woke is meant by wokeness today is a general worldview plus the belief that censorship and bullying is needed to enforce that view.

Oversimplifying things wokeness in the U.S. context means that systematic racism is the defining feature of America, always has been. Racism and different phobias are defined not so much based on individual thoughts but group power dynamics. People are defined by the group they are in. That means if you are white you have white privilege and thus are racist no matter your individual circumstance. Racism and other bigotries should be the defining feature in judging people. Privileged people need to “do the work” of finding out how they unintentionally enforcing white privilege in seemingly every innocuous thing they do, if not they need to be cancelled.

Presentism is central to the woke world view. History and historical figure need to be judged by todays standards as defined by woke people.

Colorblindness and nonracism and the merit system is worse then open racism because it enables racists and slows inevitable progress.

If you are belong to a privileged group you have no right to an opinion about oppressed groups.

Again I need to emphasize to be truly woke the views described above need to be enforced. That is a key element. The thinking is we have endured hundreds of years of being told to be cautious, of being told to be colorblind, etc and all that has gotten us is cosmetic changes. Enough of that s**t, everything needs to change NOW.
