While this might just be a bunch of bullsh*t, considering that it's about Trump, one has to wonder:

Since long before he ran for office in 2016 it was obvious that Trump is a person with a strong urge to punish.

And that alone was the reason I never supported him. Didnt need to know anything about his policies. Never cared to know. Even if they agree with me on everything...that one trait disqualifies. I just dont want power given to someone with an urge to punish.

So even if its not true that he said that...he probably does believe that stuff.

It's more like he wants a reversion to more archaic methods of execution.....more barbaric methods.

I'll admit I'm not really sure how a firing squad is necessarily worse than lethal injection.

But I'd limit death penalty to cases of mass murder where there can be no doubt as to the perpetrator's guilt. That way there's no concern over accidentally executing an innocent person.

Capital punishment is nothing more than legalized genocide. No wonder people like Trump, Abbott, and DeSantis love it so much.

Unless it's one of their kids on death row

Their kids are white, and their parents would be able to bail them out.

A person of color from a low-income background would not be so lucky. Plus many of them would be women considering that many red states are considering the death penalty for getting an abortion.

I am anti-abortion but I feel that the death penalty for that is excessive. When will we get a third party system so we no longer have to deal with Republican's crap?

You forget how often he has ignored due process and been convinced of the guilt of someone innocent. It would be naive to think that those attitudes wouldn't be part and parcel of the changes.

Anyone who thinks they are safe from a Trump crack down is delusional, unless they are a favored member of his family.

Not until our system of voting is drastically changed, e.g. to ranked choice voting. Our current system of voting intrinsically favors having just two major parties.

If you're a law abiding citizen, living in the US, you risk death nearly every time you venture out. Catch and release policies in democratic run cities see to that. With the forgiving criminal climate they find themselves in, if they still manage to get caught and prosecuted, they've got what's coming to them.

I live in a big Democrat-run city. Things are fine in most neighborhoods. There are bad neighborhoods where you need to watch out, but it has always been thus.

Oh good grief. I'm not naive, but thanks for suggesting I might be delusional! :D :?:

I'm talking about people where it's proven 100% with camera footage, DNA, witnesses, confessions etc.

Next time any of you is violently SA or experiences attempted murder, drop me a PM.

Sorry, seems I wrote in a tone I didn't mean to.

But I don't trust such proposals would be limited to proven 100%. Partly because, really, nothing is proven 100%.
