Republicans asks Universities to ban all teaching of racism
Oh it just get's worse and worse for the GOP
Republican state officials in Louisiana ask lawmakers to ban the study of racism at universities, citing divisive 'inglorious aspects' of US history

Republican officials in Louisiana are proposing a ban on teaching about racism at the state's higher education institutions — the latest move amid a wave of legislation across the country aimed at legislating curriculum in the nation's classrooms.
The Louisiana GOP's effort comes as dozens of states have proposed legislation that would prohibit DEI offices and training, diversity statements, and identity preferences in hiring and admissions. The Republican effort follows attempts to stop the teaching of Critical Race Theory, which is a legal approach taught largely in graduate schools, and policies that address race in general from various aspects of public life.
The University of Louisiana System President Jim Henderson said the claims in the GOP resolution were "so foreign to the reality at our institutions it defies comment,"

Again I'm reminded of Orwell's prediction that our thoughts become a crime.
Teachers can be accused of thought crimes even if they innocently post something on social media, Again back in the days of Mcarthyism somebody was overheard talking about forbidden subjects they could be sacked or even arrested.

I agree that all too often behind those innocent-sounding words "Diversity, Equity and Inclusion" is a nefarious "woke" agenda. "Equity" itself means equality of outcome and not equality of opportunity and I disagree with that. While these laws might help the anti woke cause in the short run it is going to be disastrous in the long run.
In recent history, we had the left's cancel culture. They had a degree of success and got greedy with it. It lowered the bar as to what is acceptable to say. The wokes did not understand what their ideological forebearers, those they mocked as ok boomers knew. The conservatives and the right-wingers had a long history of banning things and in the long run, censorship hurts the progressive cause and literally gets people killed. The right-wing bear was poked. They decided we are going to fight fire with fire. The bar has been lowered a lot.
This is going to end in two ways both of them bad. The right will get what they want in this round and the slippery slope effect will occur. Despite claims to the contrary none of these laws are as bad as they are actually, ban the teaching of racism or slavery. A lot of people posit that claims of slippery slopes are hyperbole and sometimes they are. The original anti woke bills just a year ago were limited to primary school in DeSantis's case K-3. Now it is colleges. The slippery slope effect could lead to the actual banning of teaching slavery and arresting teachers who do.
Or we could have an anti anti-woke backlash and up with super-woke authoritarian states.

This is probably news to marginalised minority groups that asking for a fair share is now equated with being anti-American?
Poking the bear? I think you mean conservative backlash masquerading as them losing their rights.

In case you do not understand the idiom
Cambridge English Dictionary
Everybody has rights. I don't know if you have this saying in Australia but we have or had one "I Disapprove of What You Say, But I Will Defend to the Death Your Right to Say It"
You are missing my main point of that post which is that what is going on in America is a "game" of one-upmanship in which everybody will lose unless people back off. In a situation like this, it is hard to do because the other side is so bad that the ends justify the means seems like the only way to go.

If that is the case then the stakes are very high. Republicans are taking America down a very dark path
This is a genuine question:
When I see lessons about the Holocaust they are presented as a single moment in time. WWII, Concentration Camps, roughly 6 Million Jews wiped out of existence, their wealth stolen is easily the greatest example of racism to ever exist. The cumulative damage of that time period doesn't seem to warrant more than a blip in our world history lessons. Why?
Jews are still experiencing anti-semitism in the US and one of the ring leaders of Black anti-semitism is Lewis Farrakhan, following his example are people like Kanye West. Yet, we spend huge amounts of time focusing on racism towards blacks as if it's the only racism to ever exist in the US. And if we don't present it over and over again, all the time, we're all racists.
I don't get it. This is economically driven, it's about more than just human rights violations. It is somehow more beneficial to highlight racism towards black individuals above all others and I don't know why else except money.

I don't know much about what is happening in Aameria, but there is a lot of disinformation here in Australian skools.
Schools should reintroduce debate
But only at an appropriate age.
My concern is that kids may internalise guilt the way I did.
It emotionally crippled me for many years.
No one should have to go through that.

Disagree.
It may be mitigated to some degree now because of the growing anti-semitism, but it wasn't the case when I was young.
It was rubbed in my face in all media for many decades.
BTW, the estimated number of ppl who died in the death camps was 13,000,000, 6,000 of which were of Jewish descent.
The left-wing narrative focuses on POC, agreed.
I don't know that much about Marxism, but I have heard that left-wing extremists are using racism to deconstruct Ammmeriaan society.

There are bad apples in every group.
Keep in mind that I was ritually abused by a German-hating Teacher when I was 5 years old.

The Holocaust is an afterthought in our educational system. Which is odd since it's a newer atrocity. I will say that many people have asked why Jews are so much more resilient, less resentful at the world? Despite still experiencing prejudice, hate crimes, etc... they just keep pushing forward. This makes other victims envious, angry, etc... They tend to be the ones who despise the Jewish people and holocaust deny. A black principle in South Florida took a lot of heat for doing the same thing to Jewish history that the Liberals say the GOP is trying to do to black history.
I think it's a case of jealousy, folks don't want competition for the same spot.
