Quote:
Republicans ‘far less likely’ to win presidency if Donald Trump is nominated
April 10, 2023 - 7:02PM

US Studies Centre Senior Fellow Stephen Loosely says former United States president Donald Trump can win the Republican nomination, but it’s “far less likely that he could win the presidency”.

“There are critics of the way the Manhattan DA has handled matters, but there are more critics of Donald Trump and the way he has behaved over time,” Mr Loosley told Sky News host Cory Bernardi.

“I suspect, yes Trump can win the nomination.”

Sounds about right. If the GOP disintegrates, it's because of him.

Personally, I am more concerned with Abbott, DeSatan, et al, than with Trump.

It could be worse: Dr. Oz, Mastriano, Senator Fetterman, Former Gov Wolf, Gov. Shapiro, the entire PA Legislature…

I've long thought the GOP has nothing to offer America, and everything to dread.

In a poll, Ameeeerian patriotism has dropped to about 38%, IIRC.
The place is falling apart.

Trump won't be nominated. DeSantis, Stalin to Trump's Hitler, will. Then the general election will be a formality.

Don't forget Tim Scott and Nikki Haley. I'm sure they'll be at each other's throats competing for the "I'm not racist, but..." votes. Scott would win with that due to Haley being a woman.

Then there's possibly Greg Abbott. I have nothing more to say about that.

If he runs, Chris Sununu would be the only one who could win in the general, but he'd get crushed in the primaries. Too bad Larry Hogan decided not to run, I would have considered him.

I think DeSantis can get himself elected even if he gets less that 40% of the popular vote. He'd just order all votes cast by the wrong people to be invalidated, would only take a few phone calls.

Give Americans something to be patriotic about - not Trumpian xenophobia or nationalism - and they'll come around.

The only acceptable alternative to the Dems should be something further to the left, such as a socialist or communist party.

Not as long as Xi's a totalitarian dictator, which he'll always be.

We could be a country where abortion is legal, marijuana is legal, public nudity is legal, and fornication is mandatory, but that won't happen as long as the GOP continues to exist.
