In what must be one of the worst miscarriages of justice in recent history. A 53 year old white woman who drove into a group of BLM protestors in her BMW injuring 6 people who needed hospitalisation has not had to serve one day of jail.
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/articl ... ector.html

She has managed to avoid attempted murder and a charge of a hate crime by claiming she was in fear for her and her adult daughter when protesters banged on her car.

However injured protestors claim if you watch the video she drove into her first victim before anyone touched her vehicle. The judge must have taking magic mushrooms and experienced hallucinations when he gave her 5hrs of community service.

Anyone remember the Charlottesville riots, a driver did exactly the same thing as Castillo driving into a crowd of peaceful protesters and was given life without parole because one of his victims died.

I don't get the difference, the US justice system is a hopeless joke

Ppl do panic.
This isn't the first time I have heard about an incident like this.

Perhaps the other case was where the person deliberately ran into the crowd, the way the Black guy did at the Christmas parade?

This needs to go to court. The woman clearly weaponised her vehicle and I doubt really she cared in the moment if she killed anyone. Judges are not psychologists.

I'm not saying what she did was right, in fact it's f*****g awful, but this video shows that her car was touched, someone bangs on the window and someone tries to open the door before she lost the plot.

It was also an Abolish I.C.E march not B.L.M. protestors

Total nonsense, IMO.
Most ppl wouldn't want to end up in gaol.
The reason she isn't in gaol proper indicates the judge saw what happened as a panic response, I would have thought.

Well, looking at that video, she does seem to provoke the response initially and then seems to have overreacted.
Stupid woman...
But then, she was driving a BMW, it seems.

It's not as if she was speeding , she was driving slowly and people tried to stop the car. Protestors blocking cars illegally are always a pain the ass but they don't deserve to be mowed down. If I was the judge and just saw this video (no other evidence) I would understand that the driver might have feared for her life especially as someone tried to open the door (you will always get a few stupid protestors). Attempted vehicular homicide is not a good look regardless.

An animal rights protester here got run over by a truck carrying pigs.
I don't believe the driver was charged.

He pleaded guilty to careless driving causing death

Andrew Blake, who appeared at in a Burlington courtroom by video on Monday, pleaded guilty to the traffic offence, and was ordered to pay a $2,000 fine and serve a 12-month probation during which he’s allowed to drive only for work

1. I thought this thread was going to be about supreme court justice clarence thomas, the guy that accepted a whole bunch of bribes from a billionaire in exchange for helping get certain outcomes from the court.

2. Magic mushrooms don't make you racist, blind to things that happened, or stupid. If anything they'd have made the guy realize people are all the same, and that in this case a white woman drover her car into blm protesters, and that she deserves to be punished for it.

edit: I dunno what video you guys are watching, but the article only has a 6 second clip that shows her mowing people down - nothing leading up to it so impossible to tell if someone was trying to get into her car or anything like that ??

I'm watching the video leading up to the incident in my minds eye where all my racial prejudices lie.

Its not the system that fails...humans are and will always be the weakest link...

As in the average American voter wouldn't know their ass from their elbow.

It's very touch and go and the margin is very very slim. I think what saved this Karen is she used her daughter being in the car as validation for driving into protestors. Keep in mind if just one of the injured died she would be in jail.

To me, it looked as though the woman nudged one of the protestors before he retaliated.
I'd be pissed off, also...

I missed the part where someone tried to open the door.
I don't know why.
I can't be bothered to review.
But assuming you are correct, I'd be in fear of being physically attacked also.

It seems to be a case of stupidity all around. 8)
