Nature—Depression may be a semi-immune disease
A study published in the Nature at February 2024 pointed out that mental illnesses such as depression are not purely non-organic diseases. Their occurrence is closely related to the dysfunction of various body systems and organs such as the immune system. Research has identified a protease called MMP8 that is related to social avoidance. Research has also found that dysfunction of immune cells may be related to mental illnesses such as depression.

I've seen some people comment that this is related to autism. This statement seems to conflict with Neurodiversity. So I don't know what to think about it.
