Satellite Searches Could Spot Bigfoot, Loch Ness Monster

Not mentioned in the article, but i guess they could also spot them pesky UFOs that everyone seems to see flying around all over the place...

Too funny... I actually took a class in college called "Fantastic Archaeology" that looked into all of the "mysteries" out there and looked at them from both points of view. It was one of my favorite classes. I did my research paper on Bigfoot too. You wouldn't believe the amount of stuff out there written about it. I don't disbelieve in it necessarily but I think we would have found something that large by now. :)

Nice article in one sense - remote sensing is neat. But kinda trivial.

Let's use satellites to find Osama first. Then, if we have solved the problems of global warming, population, AIDS, and have an asteroid defense system in orbit, maybe we can worry about bigfoot.

It took 'til the nineteenth century for anyone to "discover" gorrillas, and those are pretty damn large. I'm not so sure about a plesiosaur (or whatever) in a lake, even a very big lake, but I see no reason why a reasonably intelligent primate couldn't avoid quite a lot of publicity. If we assume that all the evidence is actually real, then its not even that good at avoididng it, its just damn lucky not to have been shot, captured, or otherwise located living wild by a recognised body.

There are still plenty of lonely spaces in the world, and if we can lose people, cars, tanks, planes, whole regiments of men, and what must add up to a million metric tons of biros in them, then a big monkey that doesnt want finding..?

Point well taken Macbeth... I didn't say I didn't believe they could be real. :)

There have been tons of new species discovered fairly recently and some fairly large (for an unknown species) have been discovered too. I think it would be totally cool for a Bigfoot to be discovered. You're right though... we have other more important things to find first.

My keys. That tenner I lost last week.. ? :)

Seriously though.. Bigfoot as a large humanoid primate, might give us some good insights into our own evolution etc. It would be something of a scientific coup.

As for Nessie.. I lalready know how to find that....

Don't you know we didn't evolve? We were created. I saw the funniest video today from some weird right wing Christian group about the basis of evolution being wrong. It was demonstrated by a jar of peanut butter. Hilarious! I don't know how to embed video or I'd include it here.

I did see some pretty good scientific evidence for the existence of Bigfoot but just as much against too. It would have to be a VERY large hoax for the number of sightings all over the place. Maybe someday we'll find out for sure!

It took that long for Europeans to find gorillas. Why? Because VERY few Europeans lived anywhere near them, or ventured into their territories. As soon as expeditions became more common, they were found. Bigfoot is supposedly seen in most states and provinces in N. America. Rather odd that we've never noticed them in, say, Florida, Missouri, or Michigan (all of which have recorded a fair number of sightings). Surely a species this large and widespread would have been verified by now?

Could Bigfoot exist? Sure, it could. Is it likely? No, not at all.

I love creationists. The depths of their illogic are yet unplumbed.

As for bigfoot, and the notion that it would require a huge conspiracy to be false, I beg to differ. Unless of course you also believe in alien abductions, incubus/succubus visitations, crop circles as alien visitations, witchcraft (in the 16th century sense, ie "witches are turning my milk sour and they can do this because they are in league with Satan"), etc. Anecdotes are not useful evidence for the existence of a thing.
