15-year-old boy hit with Taser after officers say he ran in and out of traffic in North Tustin.

I mean who wrote the article anyway? I'm sure this kid really wanted everyone subscribed to the newspaper & some to know he had autism... :roll:

Everyone knows you say pink to a news reporter & they print purple, they get a good story like this & it's even worse. How many details in any given article are really fact?

I get touchy when people pick on the disabled.

It is frankly frightening to read people's comments. So many people still have such a poor understanding of autism and think that either people with autism are dangerous / or deserve everything they get or they think it is a parenting issue!

How can we ever get people to understand and respect us???

hmmm... its a very difficult situation, police have a tough job, protecting the public, enforcing laws while keeping themselfs alive, at the same time people with mental issues who do not comprehend their situation sometimes when confronted by an officer may react in a way that would force the officer to enshure both the 'suspect' and themselfs are safe.

Its difficult, but lets face it, at the time the teen was out of control, and a danger to himself and traffic. The officer reacted appropriatly in my opinion, the result: nobody got hurt.

Im sure many more stories like this will occure in the news, unfortunatly, its a complex issue with no simple solution.

Am I reading that right? It looks like they tasered him in the middle of the road to stop him being run over...

Since when the f**k ever has crossing the road in a dangerous fashion been a tazerable offence? Why in the name of all that is holy would anyone think that tazering a kid running across the road is likely to DECREASE his odds of being hit by a car? Do they shoot you for j-walking over there these days?

Honestly.. give some cops a weapon and tell them it doesnt kill and they go zap-happy.

"Officer, could you tell me what time it is?" BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZT BZZZT BZZZZZZT.

The fact that he's autistic is actually fairly irrelevant. ANY kid being zapped for bolting is bad news. Though they really should start reading the missing persons reports of a morning, instead of using them to wipe the sugar off their fingers.

That has a picture of him and also says the boy had already caused 2 cars to swerve on the road.
