Cops dive for cover after lighter blast

Cops call in reinforcements and shut down a neighborhood for two hours after a lighter one of them left on the hood of his car exploded...

I'd really like to know the story behind confiscating a loiterer's lighter. Serves them coppers right.


But. . . it reminds me of another story. My dad was watching my brother's shop. They had a small fridge/freezer with cokes in it. My dad heard this big POP! and he hid behind the counter thinking it was a drive by. (this is in Podunk, WY, population 101) He stayed down a while until he thought it was safe. Then he realized it was a coke that had frozen and exploded in the freezer.

My first job was in a packaging facility where among other things they would package those butane lighters. Every so often one would somehow fall in the machine and believe me those things are loud when they explode.
