As in a most hideous death for stealing a couple of hundred pounds worth of copper? To think that you had the nerve to call President Saddam a butcher!

Says the person who advocates the slaughter of British and US troops in Iraq, in a rather violent way.

He was a thief. His ultimate punishment was death. His incompetence and criminal stupidity brought about his own death. Self served justice. I would not support the death penalty for such a relatively petty crime, but that guy was so stupid and incompetent as to touch an extreme voltage live wire. One less criminal scumbag on the streets.

I don't think that cutting off hands is a suitable punishment, either.

This guy took the risk and died as a result of his criminal stupidity.

I sat here & thought about it... but no, I can't feel sorry for him. He did it to himself. I do however feel sorry for the people who loved him.

This is not the case of an innocent bystander being gunned down or people being taken against their will to their deaths. This man was committing a crime which involved handling live wires which means "dangerous". If you "play with fire" ( or electricity), you may get trouble! He took his own life with his actions, therefore I do not feel any sorrow for him. No one forced him to do this.

We had a homeless guy in the next town about 15 miles south of here go to this park I know of and their is a trail leading to some RR tracks and their by the tracks are electrical boxes, and transformers and all this stuff with fences around it, all apparently very dangerous, well the guy must have thought the box was off (for whatever reason, i dont claim to be the smartest person on Gods Earth but...) and so he opened it and reached in to take the cable and ZAP! Fried beyond recognition, NIMO had to send trucks out up this grassy hill, that must have been fun and this guy was toast when they got their. This occured a while back i hear about it by some weirdo old dude watching me race my RC car I recently built when I was 11-12.

Someone stole the copper wire powering my favorite daily dinner restaurant. I just couldn't believe copper was THAT valuable, that it's worth risking both getting caught trying to steal something in a very public area, and the risk of death in the act.

Where would one cash-in on copper wire anyway??

And I wonder if any copper wire thieves ever made the disappointing discovery, "Ah, geez, it's alluminum. Doh!"

Ragtime, you are a nice person. :) I enjoyed listening to the music that you play. I always wanted to play the piano, maybe someday I will. I moved around so much that I had to give away my beatiful antique piano, but I will settle down in a house someday and I will get another one.

About copper, it can be "cashed" at recycling places. Detroit has a big problem with new, old houses being vandalized for copper.

And I don't think that the thief guy died in an "easy" way (easy way of dying is in your sleep), I think that he suffered a lot, briefly, but enough to qualify as a very violent death. It is for none of us to say anything about it...compassion includes to keep your mouth shut if you don't have something meaningful to say, when it comes to something so grusome...I was SHOCKED by the cruelty of some posts...
