No! Not that idiot! That prize belongs to one of the people who are breaking their backs cleaning up oil spills, planting trees, or inventing alernate fuels. Not a man quoted 'A zebra can't change it's spots.'

And this, only days after a British court ruled that Gore's prize-winning "documentary" can only be screened by British schoolkids as a work of political propaganda, due to its numerous inaccuracies:

Quote:
* The film claims that melting snows on Mount Kilimanjaro evidence global warming. The Government's expert was forced to concede that this is not correct.

* The film suggests that evidence from ice cores proves that rising CO2 causes temperature increases over 650,000 years. The Court found that the film was misleading: over that period the rises in CO2 lagged behind the temperature rises by 800-2000 years.

* The film uses emotive images of Hurricane Katrina and suggests that this has been caused by global warming. The Government's expert had to accept that it was "not possible" to attribute one-off events to global warming.

* The film shows the drying up of Lake Chad and claims that this was caused by global warming. The Government's expert had to accept that this was not the case.

* The film claims that a study showed that polar bears had drowned due to disappearing arctic ice. It turned out that Mr Gore had misread the study: in fact four polar bears drowned and this was because of a particularly violent storm.

* The film threatens that global warming could stop the Gulf Stream throwing Europe into an ice age: the Claimant's evidence was that this was a scientific impossibility.

* The film blames global warming for species losses including coral reef bleaching. The Government could not find any evidence to support this claim.

* The film suggests that the Greenland ice covering could melt causing sea levels to rise dangerously. The evidence is that Greenland will not melt for millennia.

* The film suggests that the Antarctic ice covering is melting, the evidence was that it is in fact increasing.

* The film suggests that sea levels could rise by 7m causing the displacement of millions of people. In fact the evidence is that sea levels are expected to rise by about 40cm over the next hundred years and that there is no such threat of massive migration.

* The film claims that rising sea levels has caused the evacuation of certain Pacific islands to New Zealand. The Government are unable to substantiate this and the Court observed that this appears to be a false claim.

Of course this will do nothing to change Al's smug proselytizing though.

Agreed.

I don't think that he or the IPCC deserve the Nobel Peace prize. It isn't even anything to do with peace. The real people who deserve the award are those who have used peaceful methods to attempt to bring about change for the better, at risk of loss of life. I'm thinking that the Burmese monks deserve such an award.

A physics prof here at Lycoming College said it best "The inconvinient thing about 'An Inconvinent Truth' is its inconvinently untrue." I could not really understand how he could have gotten an Acadamy Award for that, but the Nobel Peace Prize for it is definently too incomprehensible for me.

To remedy this perpetual slight, here are Nobel prizes for conservatives we'd like to see:

Medicine: Dr. Bill Frist. The former Senate Majority Leader was recognized by the Committee for lifetime achievement in the teaching of medicine and medical ethics. Frist, who as a young man dissected adopted cats for fun and profit, famously offered a videotape misdiagnosis of Terri Schiavo on the Senate floor. Having briefly insisted that AIDS could be transmitted by tears, Frist also took both sides in the debate over stem cell research. But despite serving as a horrible example to future doctors everywhere, Frist finds his own career not in a permanent vegetative state, but as a front man for Save the Children's global campaign against childhood disease.

I think it did already in 1978 when they gave it to Menachem Begin who was wanted by the British government during the 1940's for numerous acts of terrorism as well as being the butcher of Deir Yassin.

The Nobel Peace Prize has been a joke for quite some time now. Ditto the Literature prize. Some of the worst garbage has been awarded that accolade. Really, the only solid categories left are the hard sciences.

The whole idea of the Nobel Peace Prize was ironic anyway, as Alfred Nobel was the inventor of dynamite, a device for destruction.

Ya'll aware that Adolf Hitler was nominated for the Nobel peace prize in 1939? It was done in irony by a Swedish statesman, but many took it seriously. :?

Physics: George W. Bush. President Bush is awarded the Nobel Prize for Physics for his groundbreaking work on the Second Law of Thermodynamics, which declares that the entropy, randomness and chaos of the universe are ever increasing. The Bush Doctrine, with its three tenets of no safe havens for terrorists, preventive war and democracy promotion, has produced sectarian conflict and civil war in Iraq, Hamas control over Gaza, centrifugal forces in Lebanon and an Al Qaeda safe haven in Pakistan. Like global warming, Bush demonstrated that global chaos can be indeed caused by human action.

Winning the Nobel Prize in Economics:
George W. Bush. T

The President captured an unprecedented second Nobel for his radical Universal Theory of Tax Cuts. Upon entering office in 2001, Bush described his massive tax cuts for the wealthy as the needed remedy for a burgeoning federal surplus. Just months later as the Bush recession deepened, tax cuts were needed to jumpstart the flagging American economy. Despite being responsible for virtually the entire annual U.S. federal budget deficit, Bush just this week claimed that the slowly shrinking deficit is attributable to his tax cuts. While denying that his unprecedented wealth transfer to the richest Americans is helping fuel the highest income inequality since the 1920's, Bush's research team next plans to test his hypothesis that tax cuts can cure erectile dysfunction.
