Opinion is running high on yesterday’s decision by the U.S.Supreme Court that would compel the city school system to pay for private school for some disabled youngsters even if the child never enrolled in the public schools. view article

Weird! That's what happened to me 23 years ago!

I got diagnosed with ADD (Predominantly Inattentive Type) when I was in preschool. The public school system claimed to be unequipped to deal with kids with ADD unless they were medicated. My parents refused to put me on meds. So the city paid for me to go to private school, kindergarten through high school. They had to because legally, they can't force anyone to medicate their kid, nor can they deny a child an education.
