This worried me. I hope it won't come true!

Don't worry about it. Capitalism has a way of making things happen as long as someones making money.

They'll find the bottlenecks and fix it.

I'm refusing to believe in the possibility of such an atrocity!

*has flashbacks of the days of AOL*

Didn't they think something like this would happen at the begining of the year 2000?

I'm not sure if it can really happen. But let's all keep in mind...there are all sorts of scary claims about the internet these days, and the media may make up some of these claims just to shock the living daylights out of those who watch, listen to , or read them.

"Net neutrality going away" is another scary claim about the internet these days. That would also be devastating. I hope NEITHER happens to the internet we know :o 8O!

No, back before 2000, they thought all the computer systems in the world would shut down. I think my family was about the only one in town that didn't buy gallons of water and big bags of beans and rice....lol.

I knew someone who fully believed poop would hit the fan in 2000. They acquired a gas mask and a bulletproof vest, which would somehow magically protect them from nuclear holocaust.

I laughed at them when nothing happened, just as I had predicted.

I tend to agree with LogicGenerator. If there's money involved, (and there is) it won't happen.

I can see how this may be remotely possible. With the current system, IPv4, we only have a certain number of possibilities for bandwidth and "space." I've heard rumors about plans to upgrade to IPv6, which would amount to each person in the world able to have several of their own URLs. I find it odd that this article makes no mention of this information.

Maybe not so odd, after all. Why miss an opportunity to cause panic? :x

Yes, think how it benefits politicians!
