A child’s autism diagnosis can twist and tear at a family’s fabric and permanently alter its dynamics, but it also can provide unexpected joy and insight.
That’s something film producer Perrin Chiles discovered while making the independent documentary “Autism: The Musical.” The movie is part of the Virginia Film Festival’s Kin Flick offerings. It details the efforts of five autistic children writing, rehearsing and performing their own musical under the tutelage of an acting coach who is also the mother of an autistic child.
That actually sounds interesting, Alex. Before I read the whole article, I feared that the kids would be exploited, but maybe not. It sounds like something nice for those kids if they like doing that kind of thing.
