As a child in Kansas, we would have ol' Oral Roberts preach his fire and brimstone sermons on a 30 minute TV show on Sunday mornings. One of my favorite memories was my brother and I playfully and mockingly clutching each other sitting on the piano bench pretending to be fearful of the portral of a hellacious God violently punishing the woeful sinner whose greatest sin is 'they had been warned by Oral, but they ignored him!"
Twenty years ago, Ol' Oral Roberts said he was reading a spy novel when God appeared to him and told him to raise $8 million for Roberts’ university, or else he would be “called home.” Now he has come out of retirement to see if he can salvage his life's work.
I seem to remember a 'suggestion' from the bible they beat, something about laying up your treasures where moth and rust doth not corrupt. Too bad they didn't listen to Ol' Oral.
