http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/dorset/7112935.stm

when read a teletext article about this, they were making out aspergers to be an unstable mental illness, seems fairly typical for media though.

am think it's not good idea for anyone to carry weapons incase things get used at the worst of fight or flight-the weapons could also easily be turned on them and used, was he bullied a lot by strangers and is why he carried weapons? some teenagers are very nasty to anyone who does not conform to normie society, there should be more protection against bullying of passengers on buses etc because most drivers and other passengers do nothing to help.
if the girls had not being behaving nastily, they would not have been stabbed, perhaps this will teach them not to bully anyone, they should not have been stabbed, but he should not have been bullied either.

Also,he was diagnosed with aspergers and schizoid, thought people can't be diagnosed with a PDD when they are diagnosed with any of the schizo spectrum?
As is the reason why John Forbes Nash wouldn't be considered for AS?

I didn't think it was possible either to be both diagnosed ASD and Schitzo? Is it? I love how they say, suffering from both disorders also, the news always makes ASD to the this horrific disorder and anybody who has it, should be punished or watched very closely, its so stupid.

How come the attack that follows the bullying is always played up and newsworthy, but not the bullying that leads to things like this? No one would blame a dog that got viciously teased everyday, if it lashed out and bit someone, but it's loads of fun to stick all kinds of DX's (especially AS) on the person who is being tormented.

What exactly did happen beforehand, since the article doesn't tell us that?

I don't see any reference in that article to those girls having bullied him. Source?

I wonder that myself. Maybe not for this thread. But it does say he was teased. Who knows how long he endured it.

[A man who stabbed three girls after they teased him on a bus journey has been indefinitely detained at Broadmoor Hospital.]

I guess I meant bullying and /or teasing. Sorry for any confusion! They seem to go hand in hand.

I was curious because with the way the article phrased it, it sounded like the teasing was a one-time event. I tend to associate the verb "to bully" with a pattern of behavior.

The man was not schizophrenic. He was suffering from Schizoid Personality Disorder:

ICD-10 criteria
According to the ICD-10, schizoid personality disorder is characterized by at least four of the following criteria:

Emotional coldness, detachment or reduced affection.
Limited capacity to express either positive or negative emotions towards others.
Consistent preference for solitary activities.
Very few (if any) close friends or relationships, and a lack of desire for such.
Indifference to either praise or criticism.
Taking pleasure in few, if any, activities.
Indifference to social norms and conventions.
Preoccupation with fantasy and introspection.
Lack of desire for sexual experiences with another person.

Yeah, it's never newsworthy to report on the little sadists is it? People don't want to read about how their darling neglected children, have turned out to be monsters.
