could have interesting implications for those of us that have trouble physically speaking, but not necessarily comming up with the right words to say.

I saw that on some show on the Science Channel also. Really intresting stuff. Would't it be cool if they could somehow hook it up to someone say, in a coma or something and see what they think about? Or hook them all together and communicate telepathically? (The Future is NOW ) Sorry, I just like to "Wonder"
It could be dangerous for the population as a whole,(not that they'd ever need it) cause I would't want everyone to know what I thought, it's not always nice.

I dunno. If it automatically translates thought to speech, you wouldn't be able to hold back a rude comment if, say, the person sitting next to you forgot thier deodorant. It would be the equivalent of being under the influence of truth serum. Talk about taking "speaking your mind" a little too far...

yup..I get enough trouble for what comes out of my pie hole...if the open sewer that's my brain could speak....

Ya, the co-founder guy says it won't voice private thoughts, but, c'mon, how many times have we a-l-m-o-s-t said something we just barely kept to ourselves in the nick of time? I predict this could be disasterous for people in the business world if it becomes a business fad for whatever reason. I mean, there are times when we already send the signals to our vocal chords, but then change our minds about saying that particular thing, and stop ourselves -- even after the necessary air pressure to speak has built up in our lungs.

I mean, this thing will be accidentally voicing private thoughts too often for people to continue to trust it, I think. It'll be like the Segway: it almost never fails, but it STILL sucks to be thrown off and onto the ground. Speaking aloud certain things you don't mean to say could be very damaging to a friendship, and one or two indicidents of that could cause a person not to trust the technology. I imagine it would be especially vulnerable to failure during moments of intense inner anger toward someone. How many times have we been glad we didn't say something we really wanted to at the time? Maybe not super often, but enough to think twice before relying on this technology.

But for people who want to speak yet are unable, I think this would be a naturally embraced (and good) step forward.

Do you think all the features will help my husband understand what I'm trying to say? Sometimes I want to get across something so much but don't quite know how to say it. This is especially true when discussing feelings. Random words come to mind. Anyway I'm sure I'd offend the same number of people, with or without the device, but I see it could be a problem for many people.

I think in my own voice in my head, almost like I'm saying the words out loud as it is. Something tells me that thing would pick up on that, and voice the thoughts I really was trying to keep in my head. That would not be good!

My thoughts also jump around so much that I don't know if I could keep the background noise in my head down long enough to concentrate on what I did want the machine to say for me. You know what I mean? I don't think I'm a calm/clear enough thinker for it to work correctly for me.
