One of the world’s leading authorities on autism, Dr Paul Shattock, is to visit the Isle of Man and speak at two presentations organised by Autism in Mann on Wednesday February 20 2008 thanks to sponsorship from Barclays Wealth.

Dr Shattock will first address a forum of Autism in Mann members in the morning then in the afternoon deliver a presentation to medical and mental health practitioners, carers and all others involved professionally in the care of those with autism.

Autism in Mann chairman Alan Desmond said: ‘We’re delighted to welcome Paul Shattock back to the Island where he will deliver a lecture outlining the work of his team at Sunderland University. Paul is a rare individual, a scientist and also the father of an autistic man. His lectures are not only highly recommended but also have amusing anecdotes thrown in for good measure.’

I liked the Isle of Man. It seemed a friendly enough place. I don't know what the provision for autistic people is over there but I suspect it's very behind the times.
