Mike Pound: Good things (9, to be precise) happening at autism school (The Joplin Globe)

When we stuck our heads into the little classroom, the 4-year-old girl with the brown hair, deep brown eyes and a smile that would melt the heart of even the most hardened cynic came running across the room to greet us.
She already had yelled “Hello” when she first saw us, but she wanted to give us a more personal greeting. The girl, I was told, is big on personal greetings.
I asked the girl how she was doing. She told me she was doing fine, and then, with a little prompting from her teacher, she asked me how I was doing. I told her I was doing fine. The whole conversation took just a few minutes, but it was enough to convince me that the folks at the Ozark Center for Autism are doing a good thing. Well, I guess that’s not true. I really didn’t need to be convinced that the Ozark Center for Autism is a neat deal.
