Man puts arm in tiger cage, is killed

In front of his friends and family, this guy puts his arm in the tiger cage and the tigers ripped it off. The man died later of blood loss.

Well, I hope the tiger is OK.

It was two that did it. The story doesn't say what happened to them. The employee that commented just said it was bizarre. There's an understatement.

Stuff like this has been in the Darwin Awards before.

Too bad he already had two kids. But maybe after this, they won't be so stupid.

I hope the tigers were not euthanized, or anything like that.

He probably thought of big cats such as tigers like overgrown housecats. Unfortunately he found out the hard way they aren't.

Having kids doesn't automatically exclude you. Innocent bystanders dying does. If you have kids, then in theory, there is another set of genes from the other parent, thus mixing up any possibly dangerous genes.

Look, he qualifies for a Darwin outright. I used to be on their BBS, I knew what the criteria were.

People are unbelievably stupid about wild animals. They think because the animal's in a cage, they could take it on.

One story a friend told me: she used to work as Black Beauty Ranch, a wildlife rescue and refuge here in Texas. She worked with the chimps they had there, most of which had been badly abused and trreated. One of them was the famous Nim Chimpsky, who, despite his[urll=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nim_Chimpsky]tidy wiki article[/url], also had been cruelly treated and was very angry towards human males.

Now remember, grown chimps are almost as big as grown gorillas - something a lot of people don't realize because they only see baby and juvenile chimps in film and on TV. They're also as strong as gorillas, which is a lot stronger than any human. One day when my friend was there cleaning out the chimp habitat, a stupid contract repair guy - who had been thoroughly instructed not to leave any tools and gear in range of the chimps' reach outside the habitat - left a broom leaning agianst the section of the habitat where Nim was. Nim, agitated by the presence of the strange male human working near his home, saw his opportunity to arm himself. He grabbed the broom, yanked it through the fencing, tore off the broom head, and then effortlessly snapped the broom handle in two. Taking one half to the broom handle, he started waving it aggressively at the repair man, the jagged end outward (chimps are expert tool and weapon makers, plus Nim intimately knew a thing or two about the kinds of weapons human use from his past abuse).

When my friend yelled at him for having created such a dangerous situation for both the humans and the chimps, the idiot replied "Well, I can get it (the broom handle) away from him. Just let me in there." My friend replied "Did you not just see him snap that handle in two? Can you snap broom handles in two? What do you think he will do to you once he gets a hold of you???"

Moron.

(In case you want to know how this ended: my friend had to go get the then ranch director, the only male human Nim trusted, to coax Nim to give up the broom handle,. Thankfully no one was hurt. That repair guy had no idea what he was up against. Nim, who essentially suffered from PTSD, had had episodes of violent rage in the past and his rage was always directed at whomever was hurting or scaring him. And an angry, full-grown male chimp can do some serious damage.)

tigers consider humans as prey...you wave an arm in there, and it's just food acting strangely...I am pleased to know the darwin awards are back..thought it stopped years ago...thanks.

I'm afraid that I don't find this amusing whatsoever. That guy had a family, and he wasn't exactly doing any harm to other people. Stupid at least, but not deserving of death by default.
