The showbiz world mourns TV presenter Jeremy Beadle who has died after battling pneumonia. He was one of ITV's biggest stars in the 1980s.
TV star Jeremy Beadle has died at the age of 59. He was in intensive care battling pneumonia when he lost his fight for life. The star leaves his wife, daughters Cassie and Bonnie, and step children Leo and Claire.
In a statement, his agent Nick Canham of MPC entertainment, said: "Our heartfelt condolences go to his wife Sue, his two daughters, Cassie and Bonnie and his stepchildren Leo and Claire. He will be greatly missed."
The UK's king of prank TV, Jeremy Beadle first became famous presenting LWT's Game for a Laugh from 1981 alongside Matthew Kelly, Henry Kelly and Sarah Kennedy. That show, like many others he helmed, featured elaborate stunts, pranks and hoaxes pulled on the public. It was followed by Beadle's About from 1987-1996 before You've Been Framed, which first aired way back in 1990.
As a stalwart of ITV for many years, Jeremy Beadle regularly pulled in television audiences in excess of 15 million.
In 2005, it emerged that he was fighting leukemia, just 10 months after having a tumour removed from his kidney. Last autumn, he released three new books, and prior to his illness he was working on a series of television formats.
A significant fundraiser for Children with Leukaemia throughout his life, he is estimated to have raised more than £100 million for charities of all description. He was awarded an MBE in 2001
