Mom: Bullies drove boy to kill himself

Killing oneself is such a waste. I would much prefer the "shoot up the school and kill as many of the bastids as you can before going down in a hail of gunfire" solution...

or maybe home schooling...

This is proof that bullying needs to be taken seriously.

Honestly...I don't know why no one took notice of the obvious clues that this boy was going to kill himself! That is a horrible article, but yet it's the brutal truth of how todays society can impact others.

It's just horrible the kind of stuff that goes on in schools. I know I was bullied a lot and none of the teachers ever did anything to stop it. I think it was in high school that I finally decided I was going to flat-out ignore anyone who bullied me (which is much easier said than done, but since I was already pretty introverted it wasn't all that hard to just retreat further into my mind and take shelter in my imagination). This kid was still in Elementary school... I can't imagine how bad it must have been for him if it drove him to suicide.

It really seems that the school system has learned nothing from past events. Whenever something like Columbine occurs, the response is always "install metal detectors" rather than "find out what's driving students to kill and put a stop to it". I think that if schools are serious about stopping things like this, they need to put in place a new system to prevent bullying.

this is so tragic, my thoughts go out to the kids family and friends.
i can only hope that something is done about this scenario so that it doesn't happen again.

Being treated unfairly and being powerless to stop it is extremely demoralising. I had a dose of it at work today - it makes me feel like absolute crap. Being bullied at school means this sort of thing happens nearly everyday - I can well understand why children / people who are bullied take such extreme measures as suicide.
People need to use power to protect and care and provide supportive environments.

Bullying is a cowards way to make themselfs feel better. I think that anyone who goes out to try to make some poor kid feel bad about themselfs should immediatly be suspended. Even verbal abuse is hard to deal with, especially at that age.

However, suicide is also a cowardly escape from reality. Let's face it, the boy and his family aren't mayrters. If the mother was so concerned with her sons well being, she could have had him transfer schools, homeschooled, or other options to keep him safe. Now she wants to sue? Sounds to me like she never cared, she's just looking for an excuse to cash in on her sons death.

It's sad, he was so young.

The schools look the other way,or they blame the bullied.

This is the state of the system, and I wish it wasn't.
