The biggest thing ever done by a Facebook group
This is a demonstration of a)the power of Facebook and b) the power of youth to express ourselves.
In Colombia there's no writers' strike, but we picketed today, too. Thanks to the iniciative of two college students who made a group in Facebook called "A million voices against FARC" (Farc = a terrorist group), we had a march today in over 198 cities of the world (and I think they're not counting marchs in small towns yet), protesting against them and declaring to the world that they're not People's army, we're against violence and they don't represent us. Also, we want them to free the 700+ people they have kidnapped, and they hold in lame conditions (some people have been captive for 10+ years...).
Here are the news: Millions march in Colombia against FARC
Here's the facebook group: A million voices against FARC
Here's the official website: I am Colombia
A picture slideshow: (A lot more than) A million voices against FARC
I'm really proud and surprised. I marched in my small town, and there were over 3000 people! and in my mediun-sized city, there were over 100000!! ! and in Bogotá alone, there were more than the million they were expecting to get... there are no words to describe it.
I honestly think this is the biggest thing ever done by a Facebook group.
