I don't know if someone already posted about this...but I thought I would start one anyway as it is a big thing for me.

I would just like to say congratulations to Ellen and Portia on their up-coming wedding, and to all other homosexual couples in California. For me this is something that gives me hope for the rest of the country, and I hope advocates of "traditional marriage" don't ruin it.

Ellen has been an inspiration, idol and a hero to me for a long time and I am truely appreciative for everything that she has done for the GLBT community. I hope that people will start to see equality in everyone and work harder at creating a new meaning for the Land of the Free and of the Unitedness of the States. And not just the US, I hope it goes global.

It is my dream to someday get married and be accepted as a someone more than just gay.
Until then, I am pleased that there is progress, and that it is happening now and not 100 years from now.

I heard that there is some group that wants to spend $25 million to stop this. What a waste. Just give me 1% of this and I can do much better things with it. They should get lives instead. It is in the interest of public health that monogamy should be encouraged in any way possible.

I wish her and her partner many years of happiness. The whole anti-gay marriage thing is absurd and as some on on Air America pointed out....Gay marriages in Mass. have had no ill effects on the familys or hetro marriages in that state, which is the claim of these anti gay hate groups.

true, i can think of loads of other ways that money can be better spent. i cannot see why they think that two homesexual people that love each other deeply getting married is bad. and they do not protest the people that get drunk in vegas and end up marrying some stranger and getting divorced in 3 days.

i heard someone against the gay marriage idea say that people that are gay are less likely to be loyal to their partner. total bullcrap if you ask me. it was as if they were saying that people that are gay are a bunch of cheaters that just embark on one night stands. total bull.
anyways.
good luck to the people getting married. I wish them a lifetime of happiness.

Look at that! He's CLEARLY flustered and lost for words.
I saw the whole thing on Countdown with Keith Olbermann.

I do wish Ellen and Portia the best.

Yes, however nothing can be said to the contrary. This thread is either pointless or troll-bait.

And since everyone else on this thread has chosen to give their congratulations, as one would do for a wedding, the troll would be...

I understand what you mean by nothing can be said to the contrary. But I don't understand how this thread is pointless or troll-bait. I did not intend for this to be an agrument.

Whoever starts the thread according to Zonder and Sand. At least that is the case whenever Ragtime or I start a thread. There is no "the troll" however unless you are trying to insinuate that I am in which case you would be, but I am not stating that as anything more than a conditional statement.

I understand that and I'm not going to argue. Just, it is not fair to make a thread like this: whoever says anything against could get banned, so people may only say things in favor of it.

As for the topic:
although I ideologically disagree with such a relationship,
I do hope that they may have a happy relationship.

iamnotaparakeet, leave your complaining to another thread. of course its fair to create a thread congratulating someone on getting married.

Thanks for clarifying. :D And I do apologize if I offended anyone.
