Yeah, I heard about that. Suprised that the penguin didn't freak with all those people around. Still it's captivity-bred, must be used to humans by now.

He's adorable! Sir Penguin appeared so confident as he strutted down the aisle too.

I'm rather proud of him.....Penguin Royalty.

There is something that I don't understand.

Apparently the penguin lives in Scotland, but is a part of the royal guard of the King of Norway, and was knighted by Norway.

Does Norway have something to do with Scotland???? :?:

Actually, yes. The Orkneys and the Shetlands were under Norse rule for a few centuries. The Orkneys were ruled by an "Earl" who was supposedly a vassal of the King of Norway. The Shetlands were ruled directly by the Norwegian Crown. Eventually, the Earl of the Orkneys became an independent monarch and was crushed by Scotland. The Shetlands were mortgaged to Scotland in the 15th century.

There's quite a long relationship between the Scandinavians and the Scots. Scandinavians in Scotland were known as the "Gall Gael" among Gaelic-speaking Scots, to distinguish them from the Scots-speakers.

At first I thought: King demoted to knight. Not good. But then I remembered that it's normal for members of royal families to be knighted as well.

Good one. :D

Penguins have no natural fear of land animals. I hear they will walk right up to you in Antarctica.
