That has to be the best opening ceremony ever. The part with the 2,000+tai chi practitioners was astounding , as well as the torch lighting .

hey, I am not usually impressed. . .and I was IMPRESSED. I could not help but see me sprawled across the space between them holding an elbow I had just whacked a good one, looking for a way to get out of the group of them. . .

That was just awesome! The opening ceremonies just ended on tv here. I loved the tai chi exhibition. I used to study tai chi, but not at the level those guys demonstrated. The torch lighting was amazing and will definitely be in the history books. I don't know how the next Olympic city is going to top it, though I think the previous torch lighting by a flaming arrow was #1 so Beijings lighting was #2 best lighting.

I also loved seeing all the different outfits of each country. What was everyone's favorite country outfit?

That torch lighting was amazing, and I was bawling when that boy who saved 2 of his classmates after that earthquake walked out with Yao Ming.

The lighting of the Olympic Cauldron was so cool as well as all the entertainers performances.

I missed the opening of the Olympic cauldron, my dvd player cut out too soon, and I didn't manage to record it.
I watched the earlier part of the ceremony this morning and I thought the opening ceremony was amazing.
Well done Beijing.

NBC.com is suppose to have live streaming of all the Olympic events. So I would suspect they might have the opening ceremonies available today for viewing.

Did anyone else see the scene of Pres. Bush and the first lady in the audience where he looked at his watch as if saying "how much more of this do we have to sit through"? Then Mrs Bush had this sourpuss scowl on her face. Look I know it was hot in the arena, but they should have dressed in lighter weight clothes, taken a cooler with cold sodas, etc. As an American I was embarrassed by their behavior though its not the first time they have embarrassed me if you know what I mean.

The only redeeming Bush behavior at the Olympics was when the First Pres. Bush handed his hankerchief to one of the American girls was in tears after winning her event. I just hope it was a clean hankerchief.

yeah, I know what you mean. I am glad I was not the only one that caught their obvious discomfort from when they were walking down the very steep stairs of the stadium. I could tell they were not impressed by the VIP accomdations (i.e. the same chairs everyone else had) The only real animation was when he was discussing with Putin the hot war that Putin started that day in Georgia!

then they were all buttoned up and looking at their watches. sheesh, it is like they never on a public bus, or had to step over spilled slushies down at the Circle K or 7-11!

Yeah they didn't get their own stadium box, so I guess they felt cheated. Its interesting that American news always gives other foreign leaders a bad rap, yet the Russian, Japanese and Chinese leaders they showed were more cordial and better behaved. They seemed excited to be there, while Bush was acting like he was being forced to attend. If he didn't want to go then the tax payers shouldn't have been forced to pay for his travels and accomodations. I feel like the US should put out a public apology for his bratty behavior.

maybe we can do that when our new president is inaugurated. . .what a proud moment for all of the USA, eh?

Yeah the're a totalitarian, communist, polluting, oppressive state...

But look at the pretty pictures! Aw... that was lovely! The Chinese Communist Party is so great!

I especially liked the way they tortured a political prisoner to death in a dark jail cell in some bloodsoaked prison.
