Dogs can empathise with humans

Interesting research results reported on the BBC claims that dogs can empathise with humans.

Researchers at Birkbeck College, University of London took 29 dogs, one at a time, and watched what happened when the dogs saw a human pretend to yawn, amazingly most of the dogs started to yawn too.

"21 out of 29 dogs yawned when the stranger in front of them yawned - on average, dogs yawned 1.9 times."

So dogs, like primates, are one of the few animals that are susceptible contagious yawning. They have empathy.

I have known this since I was like 2, I mean come on people do you really need to do tests to figure out that show empathy towards humans.

Everything should be tested, nothing is clear.

Insofar as it is possible, everything should be doubted once in a lifetime by whoever is searching for the truth.

This sort of thing is why I voted yes in the Poll for the "Should dogs do Yoga?" thread. People and dogs have had a lot of generations to get used to each other.

I just did that and it's true with my dogs at least.
