Staten Island dad faces deadline in fight for daughter given up at birth

This is one seriously messed up situation... it appears as if a couple bought and paid for this child, and the court is enforcing the sale.

My opinion, based only on the information in this article, is that the biological father should back the hell way off right now. The child is happy, has been raised in a loving home, and has two parents who she is old enough to have bonded to securely. Biological father's going to disrupt her life, completely tear it apart, why? If he's that terribly concerned about her, perhaps he can make an agreement in court for visitation rights at present, so that he can slowly integrate himself into her life. Otherwise, imagine what it would be like for a small child to be ripped from her family and thrown into another household with people she does not know because some stranger's legal rights were trampled. Not good. Yes, there was injustice done to the father at the start. That should NEVER have happened. However, at this point it's the child who's best interests should be at the forefront. They're not poodles, you can't just yank them around from one environment to the next. I feel for the biological father, I really do. But there's a point at which one has to be able to step back and allow the child's welfare to be the driving force. I don't think shredding her world is in her best interests. There will be time later for the father to get to know her.

I see no reason why both parities cannot raise this young girl together. I was watching this thing on Oprah a gay woman and a gay man married both in the closet, they come out to each other, divorce, and find same sex partners. Their children didn't suffer because their "family" was different, and it could be the same for this young las. Things don't have to be "normal" for a child to grow up in a stable, loving, nurturing environment.
