Friends say slain man was a 'really good kid'

The 20-year-old found stabbed to death in his Quadra Street apartment building had just moved back to Victoria a few months ago, after a year living in Saskatchewan with his mother.

James Lucas McLaughlin was found dead by a family member in his apartment at 2558 Quadra St. on Monday night, but investigators believe he was killed several days before that.

McLaughlin grew up in Central Saanich and graduated from Parkland Secondary School in Sidney in 2007...

...McLaughlin had Asperger Syndrome, a mild form of autism that made it difficult for him to be in large groups of kids, Hinksman said. "He had a heart of gold. He wouldn't hurt anyone."

The thugs SHOULD be charged with a hate crime.

OH wait...we are NOT a protected group.Hate crime legislation only applies if the victim is of a prefered protected group.Aspies who are fired or laid off because of their AS are not even given any legal recourse..

This is a crime just like any other, just because the victim was an aspie doesn't make it a hate crime
