First Hello Kitty, and now this... This may be biased, coming from an otaku and a cat lover, but the Japanese rule, and so do cats.

I heard of this quite a while ago, and it is so much like the maneki neko legend. A cat named Tama brought wealth to his temple by saving the life of a wealthy samauri.

It is believed that Tama was a calico and the maneki neko was created in it honor. The Japanese have maneki neko's outside their shops to attract customers, it's no wonder that a real one would bring in the big busniess
