Vatican condemns IVF in bio-ethics review

Quote:
n its most authoritative declaration on bio-ethics for more than 20 years, the Vatican yesterday reinforced its hostility to a wide range of techniques and treatments that have become available in recent decades. They included IVF, embryonic stem cell research, the morning-after pill and the contraceptive drug mifepristone.....

I could never understand why someone would want to go through all the trouble IVF insures when there are so many children in the world who are in need of adoption.

This is why you will never see a Nobel Prize in science awarded to any citizen of Vatican City.

So true! The world is full of orphans and abandoned children. There are too many children in need of parents for IVF to really make sense. It's seem like too much trouble for an uncertain result.

And how many couples are there who cannot conceive on their own? Is there really such a thing as an unwanted child?

Wow, the current pope is an idiot. First he wants the Roman Rite to brought back due to 'demonology', and now science is awash. Pope John Paul II would be so upset today to see whats happened to the Vatican since he left.
