As for social skills, the point of that is finding a peer group, and the Internet gives a world group.
People to people is location, age, sex, money, dependant, the Internet filters that out, only content counts.
There is still a need for in the flesh, you can do some great stuff with flesh, but for mental development, the whole world is better.
It also think that dealing with many others on the Internet has developed my social skills beyond people like me in my neighborhood. I hear the voice of groups that I would not meet in my world.
While computers and Internet access are everywere, a fifth of the planet, a much smaller group lives in cyber space. These digital pioneers are creating a new world, and it is not all facebook.
Effective E-Commerce is more than a web page, it is being able to think in an invisable medium of thought. From home with a very low overhead I market to the world. It is the first new direction of business in ages. Single item shops make money, and have access to all the customers.
Information, business, thought, all without travel, or having to read facial expressions. Some of us were made for this world.
