Seriously? I was born there. I don't see how any of my family will give it up. Maybe they'll just buy non-disposable water bottles.

Yaay! Progress. But they really need to do that here in Vancouver, Canada's water bottle capital (I'm guessing). By all means use refillable water bottles with tap or filtered water. But selling water in single serving bottles? Waste of resources.

The only thing I wonder about is the best way to store water for emergencies. I sometimes buy the 4L bottles, but I suppose I could just keep emptying and refilling them periodically to keep the water fresh. Not sure what the guidelines are for that.

So if I go to toronto I can't use my reuseable bag because it has metal grommets? I don't understand that, at all, I wonder if the plastic waterbottle ban applies to bottles like Nalgene, which are also reuseable, then. =\ I have a lot of those, i use them, too.

About time if you ask me.

We'll see how long this lasts. My guess would be about as long as it takes the effected merchants to realize how much money they are losing against businesses that are not effected.

I assume that these people are aware that plastic bottles can be recycled. I know this to be fact. I have a bag full of them three feet from my leg, awaiting movement to outside for recycling.

Whats the rope handle/grommet thing supposed to do anyway?

^thats what I was wondering, my state is trying to put a deposit on waterbottles, I hope it passes.

In Canada, many people do not recycle water bottles, and they end up in the landfill. I use the same bottle many times, refillingit at the sink. I do not like plastic flavoured water that has been sitting on a shelf for weeks!

Besides, those plastic bottles are made with plastic that may have nasty ingredients that leach into the contents. Better to have a stainless steel bottle, as there was years ago, or to keep the bottled water only for an emergency (eg disaste food and water supplies).

Toronto made a good move. I just hope it is permanent, and it catches on.

Glass bottles perhaps? Perhaps the fault lies with a lack of recycling facility in Canada? Is it easily accessible to the public?

I worry about glass. Yikes!

People are lazy in Canada, I am ashamed to admit. I try to be a good role model to others in my neighbourhood by using my blue boxes and green bin. I recycle so much there is very little in my garbage can. I take the time to sort out what can be recycled. I love to break down cardboard!

We have so much room here that you could dump every water bottle now in use in the world and there would not be so much of a dent in the space we have here. Canada is the second largest country in the world. We have it too good, and one day we may not have it so good and realize other tiny nations, like yours, have been doing the right thing for many years.
