Dogs have the undeniable & well-deserved distinction of being Man's Best Friend.

But cats are nice, too. :cat:

I wish more people and families would get their pets at animal shelters. We have so many that have no homes up where I volunteer.... :(

Most people buy them in pets stores like Petco and Petsmart. At least, if they're not adopted they won't be put down.

Well this is good news!

here is a positive story.

Thank you for this positive story. Positive "feel-good" stories are a rarity at WP. We could use more of these. Extreme cleverness is no substitue for happiness. Hopefully, I can spread some good cheer on WP during the holidays.

You work at an animal shelter? Good for you, MissConstrue! :D :wtg: :star:

I work at a community outreach centre / food-bank.

I am so much more impressed by people who are charitable & compassionate than people with big vocaburlaries & fancy academic degrees.

You consider it "work," do you not?

Although I'm not on salary at the Lakeshore Community Outreach Centre, I treat it very seriously, as if it were a "real job." Volunteer work is a real job. Doing something that matters, making a difference, being a force for good in the world ... that's a calling. It may take me into ministry and even pastorship.

It's a Christian place, btw.

Having people make fun of my spiritual beliefs is a lot easier to take if I know I am doing the Good Work that I was called to do. Oh yes, I have felt the call ... :D
