Now, all that aside...

1. They're 50 years after Quatermass and the Pit introduced this technology.

2. Does anyone else get the feeling that this will be the start of mind probe technology?

It won't be long until we have advertisements during our dreams, like that episode of Futurerama.

i think this is a great positive breakthrough!

think about it, how easy would life be if you knew what you dreamt about?
you remember next to nothing of what you dream and so this would help find out what plays on the subconcious, make dream interpretation easier as you don't have to remember what you dream and instead just 'press play', and possibly uncover something you've conciously forgotten about that could help you a great deal.

another positive is using this in the interogation of criminals, it will show if they have any remorse or even if they're the ones who commited the crime. in airports (if used as scans some time in the future) it could show if someone's thinking about blowing up a plane... but then again it might pick up an anxious innocent fearing about a plane blowing up :?

on a more recreational note i think it'd be great for someone like me, give it another few decades after it's released and with enough practice and focus you could possibly direct a film just by thinking of it.

Reminds me of the finale of Season 2 of Red Dwarf. The Cat is looking for his dream on the dream recorder so that he can watch it again. "What's it about?" asks Rimmer. He replied "Me, three girls, and a family-sized tub of bannana yoghurt!"

Now of course, some dreams are best left forgotten. *shudder*

I don't think this would ever be possible. Good plot for a science fiction thing though.
