thats fine I'm more concerned of how that severe case of a dual diagnosis (the kid does not just have asperger's) can affect people's views on us. Its bad enough there is alot of misinformation around.

Asperger's is under the autistic spectrum, and therefore it is labelled a form of autism. So yeah, they're going to call it autism.

Usually they're pretty fair about things.

I like the last sentence:

Quote:
Andrew wouldn't be like the Andrew I know and love if he was different, because autism is his whole personality.
:)

They had to call it autism to justify using the sensationalist first sentence.

I too call it autism. Like autism is the umbrella of all sub autistic differences. Which are still autism. Then it is also easier than saying ass burgers. Sorry, but every time I try to say it, that is how it comes out sounding. Damn Lisp.

Aspergers is Autism.

To be honest, I'm more concerned with Autism Speaks and lunatics such as John Best, Jenny McCarthy, Gareth Nelson, and Michael Robinson.

I have been labeling myself as "Other Autism Spectrum Disorder" as I do not
have an official DX for Asperger's but I have been described as autistic or mentally
impaired by doctors and psychologists when I was a child.

when i'm asked about my health issues i just say i have asperger syndrome, a form of autism, an autism spectrum disorder or ask them if they've seen the film 'rain man'.

the boy does seem to be on the more severe end of the spectrum to me and appears to be more autistic than aspergers but not autistic enough to be classed as it... if that makes sense.
