I think this conflict is escalating far too much. The 2006 Lebanon conflict was enough: Israel asserted their dominance there and it was all good. This is a bit much, what with the rampant, indiscriminate airstrikes and all. Don't get me wrong, I am a blatant supporter of Israel mostly but this is just... I don't know.

Thoughts?

hamas has been launching thousands of rockets into israel over the past few years, killing innocent civilians. everytime, israel gets forced to give away more and more land. theyve been warning hamas numerous times. they have to do something to defend themselves. when al queida killed thousands of americans on 911, the united states invaded other countries and started a huge war. in israel over the past few years, hamas has killed thousands of innocent civilians. what should israel do? give them more land? we saw numerous times that giving away more and more land doesnt work. so enough is enough

I guess, man, but damn that's a lot of civilians dying in Gaza, you know? And Hamas doesn't give a rat's ass. They love it.

is it really 'all good' for israel to assert their dominance? if china invaded and asserted their dominance over the western bit of the US, say, up to the mississippi, would you complain about americans in the east randomly lobbing unguided explosives over the river?

Of course Hamas loves it, after all why do you think they decided to stay in such densely populated areas??? I think they picked those areas so they could taunt Israel into attacking and when they attack civilians died so support for Hamas wouldn't go down even though they started the fighting.

Israel needs to backoff and should give the Palestinian's their land back. I don't blame Hamas for shooting rockets over into Israel. Israeli's are taking their land and whining when the Palestinian fight back. Didn't Hamas get elected to govern through Democratic elections?

Israel has gone overboard with this now. They are just randomly bombing buildings, killing civilians for fun, and doing other messed up crap because they can. Gee, I wonder why so many Middle Eastern countries dislike israel

gaza is a densely populated area. are the freedom fighters supposed to cordon off their own areas, maybe kick their countrymen out of their houses so they can have hamas-only districts?

If they want to minimize casualties (and they don't) then yeah that's what they're supposed to do.

i just did the math based on wikipedia's numbers - the average for the whole of the gaza strip is 10072 people per square mile. israel is 839. houston is 3828. of couse any militant would be surrounded by non-militants.

Hamas wants every square inch of Israel to be converted to Palestine, and not a single Israeli left.

no compromises, no peace...

That is why we need a real solution like Egypt taking over Gaza this would help provide the people with necessities as well as helping to stabilize the area.

I know the feeling, anyways I think it would be easier to deal with Egypt than Hamas at least the Egyptian government has a few brain cells.

Eh I'm sure that Hamas are perfectly smart, but they're just religious fanatics... Okay yeah maybe they do have a few brain cells loose haha.

Hamas 8 year rocket campaign has apparently caused 20 civilian casualties.

Israels actions this year dwarf that. They are bombarding schools (and even a UN base!?) with white phosphorus ffs! (using of WP as an incendiary weapon is illegal btw).

I dont agree with hamas rockets, but Israel hardly have the moral high ground here.
