I don't think it's wrong to keep a connection to your past, as long as it can be healthy. Some of us take comfort in old things.

I thought it was weird that I called my parents "Mommy" and "Daddy" until I was almost 13, but then I met an NT adult who called her parents "Mommy" and "Daddy." There are plenty of NT teenagers and young adults who still sleep with a teddy bear or a baby blanket.

I put my blanket away when I was 12 or 13. It was hard for me to do so, but I got use to it pretty quickly. If you like having a comfort blanket, go ahead! There's nothing wrong with an object that helps you when you are lonely. You shouldn't bring it everywhere with you, though - society thinks anyone older than 3 shouldn't have teddy bears or comfort blankets. If you fell better with a blanket, there's no reason you should put it away.

You could always wear it as a cape. Nobody questions capes.

Hey, I'm fifteen and I sleep with a stuffed frog. My rule is as long as you don't need a pacifier and baby bottle, you're okay.

As said before and before, if it hurts noone else, do as you please. And if controversy gets the better of you, you could always sew a pillow cover of it ;)

You are never too old for a baby blanket or a teddy bear.

On the other hand, the feeling of going from "I can't" to "I did" is empowering. If you can give up your baby blanket, its a step towards taking control of your own life. If you can break a decades-old habit, what else can you do? Get a better job? Finish a degree? Ask somebody on a date? Remember to take out the trash on your way out the door in the morning?

I'm not saying you should give up your baby blanket. I just think you should give it a couple of tries and see how it works out. If it doesn't, don't feel self-conscious; most people cuddle something or someone at night -- a teddy bear, a blanket, a romantic partner. If it does, it's one less thing to think about and one more thing you've accomplished.

I don't think it's strange at all! I'm 18 and still have my baby blankie and sleep with it all the time. Though...it was hand made and it's now falling apart. :(
