"What?" I just cannot understand how people take up this habit, they always describe their first experience as bad... so why continue?

Plus: You are basically putting fire to; tar, insect poison (The original use of nikotine) and plants... why the hell would you want to breath that stuff in?

I smoked cigarettes for 20 years. I recommend it to people who want to understand addiction. You can study nicotine addiction for a long time before you foul up your life.

It's common for teenagers and young adults to start smoking, especially if they're not living in the best of circumstances. I quit frequently and found it not too difficult to quit. However, the last few times I found it very difficult to quit (I was married) so I haven't started again. (12 years quit now) The brain habituates. The longer you smoke the harder it is to quit.

Quit early, quit often.

teflon

polymer fume fever

did you know that if a cigarette becomes contaminated with minute amount of many household chemicals - like a 1mm speck of 'teflon' (nonstick cookware) for instance - you get poisoning like severe influenza and suffer irreversible damage to your lungs.

People here don't seem to like cigarettes much, hihi. I do smoke spontaneously. I'm not addicted and I don't think I will be. I do like to smoke though. I don't really like the smell or the taste it leaves, but it's so soothing in a way. Every day at work when I feel stressed, or I just can't concentrate, I go out and smoke. 5 minutes and I feel great. There's just something about standing in the sunshine, blowing smoke. \0/

This reminds me of a Mark Twain quote.

Nasty and Fear at the same time. My Aunt and Grandmother smoke, and I hate what it does to them. My Grandmother is deaf so it's hard to convince her to stop, and my Aunt isn't right in the head (if you know what I mean).
