The people in my school are ignorant of AS, plain and simple. They are ignorant of any problem or disability, unless it stares them in the face. To be honest, I'm close to just be open about the fact I have AS. Seeing as these people seem to believe that having any sort of mental disability means your stupid, as someone in the G&T class it might be quite useful 8)

There are people whom I have reason to believe have AS, but as I don't socialise I can't really confirm that.

of course they don't know about Asperger's. the total IQ of my school (not including my friends & I) is about 200 points between 1300 students. If they knew I'm an Aspie their answer would be "So you're ret*d.... Get away form me you freak!!"

I think all my teachers know that I have it and quite a few kids at my school know that I have it and has took some time to understand it. My Math/Science teacher from last year once gave my class a lecture about autism/aspergers because he felt that a lot of people have shown too much ignorance towards the aspies at my school, seriously... I know like 2 other aspies that go to my high school, one of them.... whenever he has meltdowns, he bites and hits people, in my auto body class he even once hit a kid with a hammer and then there was this EA teacher in our class and he pulled her hair and then kicked her in the knee. Due to his meltdowns and inappropiate emotional behaviour he eventually got expelled for the last 2 weeks of school before exams.

You definitely would of not want to see some of the reactions of the neurotypicals or teachers when his meltdowns occured. Bcuz of all that I just said, there is no doubt that there is ignorance towards aspies.
