I used to but I don't really flap anymore. Still, occasionally when I'm tired and trying to play air guitar to, say, RUSH, I basically just hand flap with my hands in a guitar position.

I'm 38 and I used to do it all the time when I was younger but I got really badly bullied and I kind of went in my shell but only last year I started doing it again, I don't know how it started but it seems to be when I'm over stimulated and there's a lot going on in my head. It feels really good though and when I feel safe in the company of people I don't mind who sees.

I don't think I've ever flapped my hands, I'm not too sure about it but though :D I might have done when I was younger. I might ask my mother haha

The responses explain everything!

Now I know why my power and comfort drives are satisfied when I walk quickly and silently (heels first, roll foot to toe, up, heels first, etc) or rotate my watch several times. But why does it satisfy those drives in particular?

I do it a heck of a lot. I use to spend three hours a night before I went to sleep doing it xD (no wonder I was always tired! lol) Now it is much less but I do it if I am nervous/stressed or excited. It just feels good

I do when my parents yell. They yell more when I do--my mom thinks it means I'm having withdrawal from my video games and my dad is just an ignorant a**hole. I try to keep it to tapping though.

I am 17 and still flap my left hand almost unconsciously whenever i am anxious or excited and i have no qualms about flapping my hands in public. Unfortunately my hand flapping makes a distinctive noise and i had my exams recently (very stressful) and apparently the noise was quite distracting because i was told to cease my hand flapping. I spent the next hour focusing more on trying to deny the urge to hand flap than i did on the exam.

In hindsight, I find the amount of stimming I did during a student government feast (with combined tables and everything) rather odd. Apparently, I kept flipping my watch and leaning about 5 degrees to the front as if rocking back and forth alone was not enough. I even had two brief shutdowns, but no one noticed because I rarely speak anyway.

Yes, but not around other people. If I'm alone and I get really excited about something it just bubbles up and I do some quick hand-flapping motion.

I'm 15 and when being excited in private, I would stand up, walk/jump around and do some handflaps. I don't do it around other people though.
