OP, did you make this thread just to belittle those who're mature or what?

Uh, no...

It's just that most Asperger's people act really young for their age.

What's true for you isn't necessarily true for others. It's a spectrum.

Right but the whole idea of AS is that we have less social understanding.
That would cause us to act younger

That makes no sense whatsoever. How do you get from reduced social skills to acting younger?

Because as people get older, they gain better understanding of social situations

Oh, so you're assuming everyone with Asperger's learns at the same rate as you?

Not exactly mine, but we are slower than NTs

Your last sentence just looks awful if it was on its own. First you meant non-autistic and we are slower than them? I know that you quoted what you were referring to but it still looks bad.

Yeah, Aspies do not learn slower than NTs. Some do, I'm sure, but that's not a symptom. In fact, we generally learn faster... How else do we work out all the social rules without the benefit of the "natural programming" NTs have?

About 8-9 years old typically, despite my being chronologically 19. I miss being that age, because everything was simple, there were no responsibilities, you could get away with acting weird (something I bet a lot of aspies miss), and you could still play with your toys without looking like a weirdo. I sometimes wish I could be emotionally "on par" with my NT counterparts, it would be a lot easier than leaving the child inside me to be responsible for this adult body.

It depends. I stopped acting like a child at the age of six, I miss these times, and I guess that's why I sometimes (but really rarely) laugh at things that are usually funny for a early elementary school child or do things typical for six - year - olds. Psychological evaluation said that my mental age is 23.

If your mental age is 23 then you should be called a reverspergian, and you should know how to deal with socio-emotional things better than your age.

It's hard to say because I don't act one single age all the time. Sometimes I'll "act out", especially in public places (or so I've been told)

I'm 13 and I'd say I act more mature (in terms of outlook, interests, etc) than most of my peers, but have less developed social skills...

My maturity flip-flops. I can act and sound like an intelligent adult one minute, then engage another in conversation and sound like I'm 12. I can hold a theoretical discussion with my science teacher as though I was a teacher myself, then make childish jokes, or act like a child. And I'm 15. Frankly, I'm not sure how to answer the poll, since I'm all over, though mostly I'd say 12-13 or so is my average.

I may have posted in this thread before but forget doing so, I apologize if I have.

Anyway onto the point. I think I act a lot older than my age so I guess I'll have to vote for 16-17.

I realized that I'm not a teenager anymore after I voted 16-17.

I act how I act and that is all there is to it. I'm not so immature as to go around calling everyone else immature, nor am I mature enough to stop appreciating childish humor.

Well, you're only 20, and probably emotionally a teenager due to Asperger's delays.
