The college I went to did not allow smoking hence I had to smoke. I only smoked while I attended that school and quit almost immediately after graduation. Honestly, I don't really care for it and think it is very unhealthy... just don't tell me I can't do it. :D

I'm not really into it. It's a waste of money.

I'm off and on with with - I do it when I drink, I do it once in a while when I'm stressed out, and it seems like I can find a good balance between it having an appropriate time and place without overdoing it. Luckily if I do start to overdo it my body responds pretty quick, I have hiatal hernia so I'll be hacking like a redneck which is more than enough incentive to not touch a cigarette for weeks thereafter.

Give yourself cancer, emphysema, heart disease, and varicose veins away from non-smokers, and I have no reason to bother you for smoking death sticks whilst killing yourself very slowly. Same applies to many other long-term self-inflicted illnesses, but do be considerate of your loved ones... who will be the ones suffering as and after you die.

Well, your entitled to your own opinion of course. Really though a large part of it is just what you grow up with and what your environment is I guess. There are plenty of doctors and nurses who smoke even, then again I think many of them have seen that a smokers and non-smoker's lungs are both pretty black. Not that its a go-ahead but I tend to be more of one to say that in moderation its not a big deal, 2 or 3 packs a day - bad, smoking maybe 10 or 15 a week probably won't have a huge effect on anyone who doesn't have a proclivity to emphesima or cancer, particularly if they're getting their exercise and antioxidants.

I agree, as long as they do it away from non-smoking people it is ok, otherwise I find it really annoying and unconsiderate.

Oops, also didn't realize I was in the adolescent folder - not exactly my demographic.

I do smoke, but not that much, and on the rare occassion I am around other people I always ask permission first. I never smoke in public.

to me i just don't see how the pros can possibly outweigh the cons of smoking. i know it calms smokers down down, but does it really help enough to risk all of the diseases, complications, and cancers you can get from it? if you really want something to calm you down, look into meditation instead of looking to drugs.

brf, think of it like a more 'normal' and less direct version of cutting - that should probably sum it up quite well.

hah, i see what you're getting at. ive noticed that a lot of people who smoke seem to have self-destructive tendencies.

I dont smoke but my favorite smell is cigarette smoke. I have no problem with smoking whatsoever. I dont smoke now because its an expensive habit but I probably will in a few years or so.
