Did you know about controversies concerning Pelzer's version of the truth as depicted in his books? Do you believe him that he hasn't made it all up?
I don't know; I want to believe him, but there are plot inconcistencies and I don't think it's possible to survive for an hour breathing clorox and ammonia.
One possibility is that he was frightened of revealing the stuff or that he was young-at a young age especially, traumatic memories are hard to recover.
Another is that his subconcious created false memories to cope and remember a "better" version of a trauma. It is the groundwork for dissociative disorders.
