I'm in a real pickle at the moment.

I can't be upset at the property manager or the couple who owns the property that I have applied for as they don't know what its like to be in an aspie's shoes. However, a property I have my heart set on and I even went the extra mile to make it professional and eye catching, to get document dated and stamped (which was not necessary but I did so anyway) 3 weeks in advance even before the property was open for inspection. I waited 30 mins before the real estate agencies door opened, I was the first in the morning and the first to inspect the property privately and the first to apply for it, all of this is now on tenterhooks because in order to secure the property I need to have employment, employment for me is like being served an entree', a main course and a dessert all in one meal and they contain the same ingredient, anxiety.

I have never kept a job for longer than 3 months (which was a once off), average employment for me is between 1 day to 6 weeks.

I have done everything possible, I even went the extra mile to satisfy the real estate agency and I called 35 workplaces to apply for a position. I even found 1 who was recruiting and I even travelled 2 hours via public transport (1 way) for a 15 min interview for a field that I know that I am best suited too and have been studying for a year (divided between time and 2 separate courses) to achieve 2 certificates, I have been fully qualified for 5 months and I have not worked one job and like most aspie's without knowing it during an interview we might incur the foot and mouth disease (by saying the inappropriate things) and I've tried divulging that I have a disability without going further into detail just to give them an understanding that "hey" I may seem normal but I'm special in my work skills, I've even optioned and spilled all that I have aspergers in hope they might give me a go, I have no idea at times if I'm been judged by skills or disabilty and if so, do they give compassion (seems not to me if I am declined or not trialled)

I've been through 8-10 jobs in 2 years in other fields that are-not-so-suited-to-me (partly due to speed) With the way my unique aspergers mind works that are only a few fields that are suited to me, floristry (which is my current pursuit) teaching and acting. Teaching requires an o.p and because I was diagnosed at age 22 after graduating from school I was unable to get the assistance I required whilst getting an education and I pretty much flunked my o.p and any hope in studying o.p courses such as teaching and acting is as elusive as flying pigs which again I may only have the chance to see on a movie set (if I ever get there) sooooo.

I feel really really screwed, stuffed, in deep quicksand in getting this property all because of one great circle that most "normal" people can't grasp and I am really really upset and concerned as to how I can score this rental property which I love dearly and have been crying over with every unsurity that the property manager passes to me from the owner, without a job and to prove to the real estate agent and the owner of the property that I am financially capable of paying rent (I wouldn't've applied if this was so) and that sticking me in a Miley Cyrus concert is probably the only way this is going to work (sarcastically speaking, I get anxiety in large crowds plus I'm sensitive to very loud noises)

I would give everything to be off benefits but unfortunately because of this lack of understanding in this world, when an active volcano freezes over. My situation stays the same with not much change in sight.

I am here temporarily in a different city staying with parents (I feel the cycle repeating itself) because I am without a rental place due to lease expiring and the place that I was renting from was private and a nightmare of all godfathers, I'm in limbo waiting for a home to call my home. I very much want it and I hope their compassion breaks through the darkness. I can't live my parents, I need to breath and I will literally suffocate if this property does not work out all because of employment concerns...

It's hard, isn't it? Sometimes it's just so hard.

You don't say where you are, but I would think that a letter from whatever agency is providing your financial income stating the amount would be sufficient for most landlords. If it is a government stipend you are receiving, that to me (if I were the landlord) would actually be better than someone who was working - workers can always be fired or laid off, but someone getting a government disability check is going to collect every month regardless of work status until the cows come home. Have you asked about this?

In my town they expect to see an income of at least three times the monthly rental. If the amount of your income isn't as much as they require from anyone else, I can't see that there'd be a case to rent to you - sad as that is - instead of someone they felt was more suitable. Too much chance that you'd fall behind on the rent and I'd (as a landlord) be stiffed for my money.

Wish there was a way to help. :(

Thanks nan here's a *hug* if you accept.

I've rented previously, but privately and it was horrendous had the worst caretakers and landlord, gave me nothing but headaches and troubles. I never once was late with my rent, even whilst I was studying for 6 months of my year lease.

I can pay for the rent per week, not a problem, I think they are concerned about the remaining money after the rent deductions and I know I have plenty on the side, I did a budget to show the facts.

My folks totally agree with you, and I do too, that I am more financially stable than the working person because of today's economy its happening to some distant people friend's of friend's, I'd prefer to be where I am at, than to be on the plank.

I'm staying with family and I deeply miss my independency, the real estate agent has all of my documents including income, I just wish I wasn't so judged.

I had to juggle on an even lower income, study and rent that left with no more than $10 at the end of the fortnight after essentials, I survived and I did that for 6 months.

Here's praying that the landlord/landlady see the light that I am capable of paying for rent on a weekly basis with no financial difficulties.
